The Nightmare Continues: Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC Officially Confirmed!

Capcom is absolutely crushing it right now! Just days after Resident Evil Requiem completely shattered records with over five million copies sold, game director Koshi Nakanishi dropped a massive update video on X to thank the community. But he didn’t just stop at a thank you; he brought a roadmap!

Photo Mode and a Mystery Minigame

First up, for all the virtual photographers out there, a dedicated Photo Mode is officially in the works. You will finally be able to pause the chaos and get those perfect, cinematic shots of the horror.

Things get even more interesting in May 2026. Nakanishi confirmed a brand new “surprise minigame” is dropping! During the video, he hilariously trolled the fanbase by holding up fake joke pitches including a match three puzzle game, some bizarre cat DLC, and a steamy Leon Kennedy romance simulator called Forbidden Requiem. While the actual minigame remains a closely guarded secret, the entire community is praying for the return of The Mercenaries mode! 🙏

The Story Expansion

The absolute biggest mic drop was the confirmation that a full Story Expansion DLC is currently in active development!

Nakanishi stated that the DLC will delve deeper into the world of Requiem. He did warn that the team is hard at work and it will take some time, so we need to be patient. Of course, the rumor mill is already spinning out of control! Insiders are suggesting we might get a prequel story focusing on Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, or maybe a direct continuation of Leon’s storyline following that absolutely insane ending.

Seeing Capcom immediately capitalize on the massive sales milestone is incredible. The fact that Nakanishi is self aware enough to joke about a Leon dating sim proves this development team perfectly understands their fanbase. Whatever this story DLC ends up being, giving us more time to explore this new era of survival horror is a massive win.
