If you have been burning through ARC Raiders and thought, “This is great, but what if I was dodging zombies in South Korea instead of robots in space?” Nexon has you covered. The upcoming PvPvE stealth survival game NAKWON: LAST PARADISE is looking to dominate the extraction genre, and the next testing phase is right around the corner.
Developed by Mintrocket (the studio that gave us Dave the Diver), this is a massive departure from running a cozy sushi restaurant. We are trading the ocean for the ruined streets of Seoul, where you will be fighting for your life, your loot, and your rent money.
Unlike most zombie shooters that give you an LMG and tell you to go wild, NAKWON focuses heavily on stealth and melee combat. Guns are incredibly scarce, and when you do find a Revolver or Double Barrel Shotgun, firing it is a massive risk. The infected react intensely to sound, so a single gunshot can bring an entire horde down on your head.
You will be relying on weapons like the Fire Axe and the Riot Shield to quietly dispatch threats. The upcoming test is also introducing six new Special Infected, including the Screamer and the Butcher, meaning you cannot just swing wildly through the alleys anymore.
The gameplay loop is a brutal mix of extraction looting and life simulation. By day, you are managing your shelter and trying to elevate your Citizen Grade. Your grade determines your privileges, the gear you can access, and whether you can afford to pay your survival taxes.
By night, you drop into the ruined city to scavenge. But you aren’t just hiding from the infected; you are dealing with other players who want your loot. Permadeath is very real here. If you get taken out by a zombie, or betrayed by another survivor, you lose everything you brought with you.
If you want to test your stealth skills, Nexon is hosting a Closed Alpha Test from March 11 through March 16, 2026. You can request access right now via the official Steam page. They have even expanded server access to include parts of South America alongside North America and East Asia, so matchmaking should be packed.
The idea of surviving a terrifying zombie apocalypse only to realize you still have to pay rent is the most realistic dystopian nightmare I can imagine. The focus on stealth over pure firepower is exactly the shakeup the extraction genre needs right now. Just remember: when you drop into Seoul, trust absolutely no one.
For BREAK THE META, this is WILD SURF. Catch you on the next drop. 🌊🏄‍♂️
