Next Stop, Absolute Chaos: Enginefall Steals the Future Games Show

If you thought the extraction shooter genre was getting a little too predictable, Red Rover Interactive is about to completely derail your expectations. During the massive Future Games Show Spring Showcase this week, they dropped a brand new look at Enginefall, and it easily became one of the most talked about reveals of the entire event.

Imagine the brutal survival mechanics of Rust completely smashed together with the claustrophobic class warfare of Snowpiercer. You are not just fighting over static buildings on a giant map anymore. The entire map is a colossal moving train, and it is heading straight into pure PvP carnage.

All Aboard the Murder Train

Enginefall takes the classic extraction formula and forces everyone into a glorious, high speed meat grinder. Here is exactly why this game is about to consume your entire friend group:

  • The Upward Climb: You and your squad start as absolute nobodies in the cramped tail cars. To get the best gear, you have to literally fight your way through the train carriages, moving from the slums all the way up to the heavily guarded luxury cars in First Class.
  • Makeshift Fortresses: You are not just looting and shooting. You can actually build compact bases right inside the train cars to set up respawn points and store your hard earned scrap.
  • The Conductor Seat: The ultimate goal is reaching the control room at the very front of the train. If your squad manages to breach the doors and kill the current Conductor, you get to take control of the massive machine, broadcast taunts over the PA system, and craft the most powerful weapons in the game.
  • The Getaway: When your backpack is completely full of fuel cores and high tier loot, you escape the chaos by jumping onto your personal Dagger shuttle to extract safely.

The Spring Playtest Delay

The developers recently announced a slight shift in their schedule, moving their massive Open Playtest from April back to May 12 through May 19. While waiting a few extra weeks is definitely a bummer, they are using the time to polish up some insane new features like skyhooking and advanced blueprint systems.

This game looks like an absolute blast for aggressive squads who love proximity chat and heavy base raiding. Forcing all the players into a linear tube where you constantly have to push forward or defend your carriage sounds incredibly stressful in the absolute best way possible.

For BREAK THE META, this is WILD SURF. Catch you on the next drop!
