Amadeus Cho, the Asian equivalent of the Hulk in the Marvel comic book universe, has become a fan favorite. The Korean-American has a devoted fanbase, and many Marvel fans have been waiting for him to make an appearance in the MCU. Many fans have been hoping that Amadeus Cho would be a part of the upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk, which is set to expand the Hulk’s world. It’s unclear whether he’ll appear in that series, but supporters of Amadeus Cho can rejoice. We actually met his mother in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Helen Cho who was assisting the Avengers and was forced by Ultron to create the Vision.
The Asian Hulk is being pushed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Marvel Studios. Amadeus Cho would most likely replace Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner as the main incarnation of the giant green superhero in the future. It’s unclear how far down the road this would be, but we have to think Marvel is planning when the best time would be to introduce the character and how to win over fans as the new Hulk.
Marvel Studios has a clear image purpose for giving spectators an Asian version of the Hulk. Asian representation in mainstream cinema has become a contentious issue, and the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes has heightened the importance of portraying more positive Asian characters in films and television shows. For this reason, having Amadeus Cho take over the Hulk‘s mantle would be a good PR move.
