Hide and Seek with a Body Count: PUBG Introduces Limited-Time Prop Hunt

Just when you thought PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS was all about tactical positioning and sweating over your K/D ratio, Krafton decides to remind us it’s April Fools’ season. They just pulled the curtain back on a brand new, limited-time Prop Hunt mode that is live right now. Running from March 30 to April 7, 2026, this isn’t your standard chicken dinner grind. It’s a 12-player game of high-stakes hide-and-seek across Rondo, Vikendi, and Miramar that swaps out the Ghillie suits for literal furniture.

The Hunters vs. The Hidden

The mode splits the lobby into two distinct teams: 3 Hunters and 9 Props. If you’ve played Prop Hunt in other shooters, you know the drill, but PUBG adds that signature tension that makes even a trash can look suspicious.

  • High-Stakes Hunting: Hunters play in First-Person Perspective (FPP) and have to sniff out the fakes before time runs out. But there is a catch: firing at an actual inanimate object reduces your own HP. You can’t just spray and pray every chair in the room unless you want to accidentally eliminate yourself.
  • The Prop Toolkit: As a Prop, you’re playing in Third-Person Perspective (TPP) and have a few tricks up your sleeve. You can deploy decoys to confuse the Hunters, use a stun gun to disorient them if they get too close, or even switch your disguise on the fly. Pro tip: your size actually affects your movement speed and HP, so choosing to be a tiny cup might make you harder to hit, but you’ll be a “one-shot” if they find you.

Fever Time and Round Flow

Each match consists of three rounds, and the roles are shuffled to keep things fair. The most chaotic addition is “Fever Time,” which activates toward the end of each round. During this phase, Hunters get a massive firepower boost and, crucially, no longer take damage for shooting the wrong objects. It turns the final seconds of the match into a desperate, bullet-riddled scramble for the remaining Props.

While this mode doesn’t contribute to your Career stats or provide XP, it is the perfect “mental reset” for anyone who has been grinding the ranked ladder and needs a break from the sweat. It’s lighthearted, it’s frustrating, and it’s exactly the kind of chaos we expect from the April Fools’ festivities.

For BREAK THE META, this is WILD SURF. Catch you on the next drop.
