The development team dropped the official world teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Dowdun Reach update, and they finally locked in a release date. RuneScape Dragonwilds is officially expanding on March 31, 2026!

A Corrupted Labyrinth

Dowdun Reach is not just a standard new zone to explore. It is a massive, interconnected stronghold completely locked down by ancient sorcery and primal fear.

• The Black Knight Titan: The region is ruled by the iconic Black Knight Titan, whose armor encased forces have been twisted by demonic influence.
• Lesser Blue Dragons: If you thought the green dragons were a problem, get ready for a serious spike in difficulty. Lesser Blue Dragons are actively roaming the fortress, bringing a whole new level of danger to your exploration.
• The Bridge: This towering castle acts as the literal pathway between the cursed lands of Fellhollow and the upcoming dunes of the Umbral Sands. The developers noted that the only way out is straight through, heavily emphasizing densely packed combat and side quests.

The Level 99 Grind and Skill Capes

This is the absolute biggest news for classic RuneScape fans. Jagex listened to community feedback and is officially raising the level cap for all skills all the way to 99!

Even though the developers are still actively building the higher level content, they want players to be able to grind without wasting any precious experience points. When future updates add new activities, your previously earned levels will automatically unlock the backfilled content. And yes, hitting that glorious level 99 means max level Skill Capes are officially making their debut in Dragonwilds!

Mithril Gear and Dedicated Servers

You are going to need better gear to take down the Black Knight Titan, and Dowdun Reach provides exactly that. The fortress is packed with rich veins of Mithril ore. You will be able to craft eight brand new Mithril weapons, including a massive Greataxe and Greatsword. Ranged players get the new Maple Shortbow and Longbow, while magic users finally get access to the iconic Mystic Robes. We are also getting armor crafted entirely from Blue Dragon Hide!

On the technical side, Jagex confirmed that highly requested Dedicated Servers are launching alongside this update. You will finally be able to host persistent worlds for your friends, making the cooperative survival experience so much smoother. Just a quick heads up for the anglers out there: the new Fishing skill has been slightly delayed to April so the team can polish it to perfection.
