The Hunt is On: Black Cat and White Fox Join Marvel Rivals Season 7

If you thought the hero shooter meta was settling down, NetEase Games just completely flipped the script. We have known for weeks that something massive was coming thanks to those subtle gallery card teasers, but the developers finally made it official today. Season 7 of Marvel Rivals, officially titled The Hunt is On, is bringing both White Fox and Black Cat to the roster!

Launching on March 20, this update is plunging the game into absolute chaos as Kingpin locks down New York City to fight off a temporal invasion from 2099. Let us break down exactly what these two new additions are bringing to the multiverse.

The Nine Tailed Strategist

First up on the launch schedule is Ami Han, better known as White Fox. She is entering the game as a brand new Strategist, meaning she is going to be incredibly valuable for keeping your squad alive.

Here is what makes her kit so unique:

  • Kumiho Energy: White Fox uses mystical fox marbles to heal her allies and actively charm her enemies.
  • The Transformation: Her ultimate ability literally turns her into a giant nine tailed fox. In this form, she can suppress the enemy team with massive claw strikes while simultaneously healing her own squad.
  • The Tiger Division Connection: Because she shares a deep comic book history with Luna Snow, the two of them are getting a brand new Synergy called Blessing of the Kumiho.

The Master Thief

While White Fox drops on day one, the iconic Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, will be swinging into the game during the Season 7.5 mid season update.

NetEase is keeping her exact abilities under wraps for now, but all signs point to her being a high mobility Duelist. Considering her history as a master thief, you can absolutely expect a fast paced, high risk playstyle that will probably terrorize the backline support players.

System Wide Shakeups

Beyond the new characters, Season 7 is bringing some massive systemic changes to the competitive scene. The developers are globally reducing ultimate energy gain rates by around twenty percent across the entire roster. That means you can no longer rely entirely on pressing your ultimate button to win a team fight; you are going to have to actually coordinate with your squad. They are also adding a brand new Lower Manhattan map to the rotation and expanding the hero ban phase from two to three characters per match.

Seeing NetEase bring in a massive fan favorite like Black Cat alongside a lesser known powerhouse like White Fox is the perfect way to balance the roster. The meta is about to shift incredibly hard, especially with the global ultimate nerfs.

For BREAK THE META, this is WILD SURF. Catch you on the next drop!
