The Ultimate Gamble: Borderlands 4 Drops the Full C4SH Gameplay Overview

Gearbox is completely dealing us in. Following the massive Tokyo Game Show teaser, the developers finally dropped the full gameplay overview and skill tree breakdown for C4SH today. The highly anticipated CasinoBot is officially joining the Borderlands 4 roster on March 26 alongside the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned expansion, and his kit looks absolutely broken in the best way possible.

Let us break down exactly how this probability obsessed robot is going to completely change the meta.

The Deck of Kanansi

C4SH is not your standard run and gun mercenary. He is a former casino dealer bot who won a cursed, eldritch artifact called the Deck of Kanansi in a high stakes game. Now, his entire playstyle revolves around manipulating luck, balancing massive risk with insane rewards.

Here is what his three unique Action Skills bring to the table:

  • Sleight of Hand: Tied to the Luck of the Draw skill tree, C4SH literally throws magical cards from his eldritch deck to cast randomized spells and debuffs on the battlefield.
  • Cleromancy: Found in the Roll the Bones tree, this skill lets you toss physical dice into the fight. Depending on the roll, different elemental totems will spawn to obliterate enemies or buff your squad.
  • Cross Fire: If you prefer pure damage, the Chaos Walking tree lets C4SH dual wield his stock revolvers for automatic fire, complete with massive ricochet potential.

Breaking the Rules

Gearbox always tries to break their own rules with DLC Vault Hunters, and C4SH completely shatters the mold.

  • No Capstones: Unlike Amon or Vex, C4SH does not have traditional Capstone abilities at the bottom of his trees.
  • Augment Stacking: Instead of Capstones, the bottom of every single skill tree grants him an extra Augment slot. If you build across all three trees, you can equip a staggering four Augments at once, giving you unparalleled control over how random your Action Skills actually are.
  • Base Game Access: The best part is that you do not have to keep him confined to the Whispering Glacier. Once you own the expansion, you can take C4SH straight into the base campaign and all the endgame Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode activities.

Having a character entirely built around gambling mechanics and probability manipulation is such a perfect fit for a franchise that already revolves around the ultimate loot chase. Giving us the ability to stack up to four Augments means the build crafting community is going to have an absolute field day optimizing his damage output.

For BREAK THE META, this is WILD SURF. Catch you on the next drop!
