If you thought the stealth genre was fading into the shadows, Konami just proved everyone wrong. The publisher officially announced today that their spectacular remake, METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER, has crossed the massive milestone of two million units sold globally! The game originally dropped back in August 2025 and managed to sell a staggering one million copies on its very first day. Now, just a few months later, Big Boss continues to absolutely dominate the sales charts across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC.
The success is not just running on pure nostalgia. Konami and the developers absolutely knocked this project out of the park by rebuilding the iconic 2004 PlayStation 2 classic from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5. We are talking about mind blowing visual upgrades where you can literally see individual pores on a character face. Plus, the new battle damage system means every single bullet wound, scrape, and burn Snake takes during the mission leaves a permanent mark on his body, telling a unique story of your specific playthrough.
This incredible sales momentum proves that the Metal Gear franchise is still a complete powerhouse in the industry. And Konami is not slowing down either. If playing the new remake has you craving more tactical espionage action, the company recently confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2 is locked in to launch this coming August. That collection is going to bring absolute masterpieces like Peace Walker and Guns of the Patriots to modern platforms, including the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2!
Seeing a classic title get the respect and high budget treatment it truly deserves is always a massive win for the gaming community. A lot of fans were incredibly skeptical about Konami returning to the franchise after all the internal drama years ago, but this release is undeniable proof that they can still deliver a top tier stealth experience. If this level of quality is what we can expect moving forward, a full remake of the original Metal Gear Solid might actually happen, and that would easily break the internet.
For BREAK THE META, this is WILD SURF. Catch you on the next drop!
