2XKO Beta: Riot’s Fighting Game Steps Into the Ring

EsportsGamingReload3 months ago1K Views

After six years of quiet development under the codename “Project L,” Riot Games’ League of Legends-inspired fighting game now has an official name, 2XKO, and a playable beta on the horizon. The closed beta launches September 9, 2025, for PC, with earlier alpha testers already granted access. Console players will have to wait, but Riot has confirmed full cross-progression with Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

2XKO is a fast-paced 2v2 tag fighter, blending assist mechanics with a unique “Fuse” system that encourages creative team play. The beta roster will feature familiar LoL faces, including a newly announced Vi, straight from Arcane. Players can also try the game early at EVO 2025 in Las Vegas from August 1–3.

Beta details you need to know:

  • Closed beta date: September 9, 2025 (PC).
  • EVO hands-on demo: August 1–3, 2025.
  • Confirmed roster addition: Vi joins the fight.
  • Cross-progression: Yes — start on one platform, finish on another.

While excitement is high, some FGC veterans are cautious, noting the small initial roster and a focus on humanoid characters. Riot’s devs insist more variety is coming before launch.
